What's going on???

To be honest Tarquin, we've just gone sale agreed in Lucan and we seemed to find the only property where the owner didn't go sale agreed quickly.

My only advice is to check myhome.ie DAILY.

You won't be called by any Lucan EAs bar one - DNG.

This is the run-down on EAs in Lucan
Sherry Fitz: Their web site is good, but they list ALL properties on myhome from what I can see.
DNG: Will call you with new properties
Remax: Slow to call back. Can be a nightmare to get hold of (but good once you do)
KBA: Good but again, won't call you. They do individual appointments, which can make it a nightmare to see properties.

If you're anything like me, you'll need to take time off during the week to see houses as (as you've said) houses that are listed on Monday can be sold by Friday.

You need to aim to be at the first viewing of nearly all houses.

Good luck, that's all I'll say. It took us 3 months but we found something.

Oh, and it'll be no consolation but I LIVED on myhome.ie. Register the searches and it will list the new listings separately, which is useful.

Yeah my boyfriend is the same. I work in Baggot St, so that's not too bad, but he works in Sandyford. And while my boss is good, his has only limited patience.

If you can get an idea from the EA whether they're showing the following Saturday, you can put it off. The EA will always advise whether it's likely to close.

I just made myself into every EA's nightmare and hassled and hassled. If need be I went on my own to see a couple of places knowing that if it was really good, we could become the highest bidder and then go to see it together at the weekend.

Sorry typing with only one eye on the screen - I meant to say "go sale agreed quickly"

Obviously though, if an acceptable bid comes in, the EA doesn't really have that much control over whether the seller accepts this.

Im pretty sure Sherry Fitz are the majority owners of MyHome.ie hence the listing of everything on their site

Bought our house through Gunne in Lucan Village and any appointments that we had with them, were always in the evening or Saturday morning.

Your right it is crazy. There was an artice in the papers the other week saying that properties in Lucan were undervalued, in comparison to the rest of Dublin i would presume. Have been looking there myself but as you say they are going sale agreed nearly instantly. One that has been on the web for a while is quoted at 305k but when i rang up today they have had a bid of 350k!!!!

In fairness a 3 bed semi in most parts of Dublin are 500+, Lucan is still 350-ish so yeah, its catching up. This time last year they were 280 in Lucan,

If it makes anyone feel better (tee hee), I found myhome.ie print-outs from 20 July, listing houses in Moy Glas and Abbeydale for €310,000/€317,500 and €290,000 respectively.

I know there's a house in Moy Glas now listed (note that's LISTED) at €340,000 and houses in Abbeydale now guide €330,000. From experience, the Moy Glas house will get at least €360k and Abbeydale nearly that again.

It's madness!
