What's Dartmoor like for a weekend break

Have to go to a work do in a manor house hotel in Dartmoor in Devon in October. Fortunately I can bring Mrs Sox, arriving on Friday so we're contemplating making a weekend of it.

Can anyone suggest anything to do in the area on the Saturday?. We are hiring a car for the weekend.

Seriously, if you're lucky enough to get some nice weather, Devon has loads of good beaches. The moors are a national park, nice but kinda bleak.
You'd be within fairly easy driving distance of one of my fav's ...Monkey World (as seen on tv)

Also not that far from Stonehenge.
