Hi All

I bought a sony vaio laptop (see link below) in december 07. Have used till now and still going strong. Heading off and buying a smaller netbook for my travels and offered this to my bro. He said he wanted to give me a few quid for it, whatever it was worth. Any ideas what this would be worth if i sold it privately. I paid about 1100 for it (which doesnt really mean much when you look at todays prices).
I had a figure of about 200. am i way off?

Thanks
Karl

Dual core, fairly OK graphics card, how much memory does it have though? 2GB, the reviews suggest. (Unfortunately you can't slot any more memory into it). I think €200 would be a good price for it. Two things to bear in mind though:

* What's the battery life like? If the current one is nearing its end, your brother has to pay for a new one, that's another cost incurred.
* If it's running Vista, while I've found to be very sluggish, I'd recommend your brother put Windows 7 on it at some point (don't buy it full price, look around for a deal).

Still I think it's worth €200 anyway.

yeah 2 gb ram. not sure about battery. howd do you know? and yes it runs vista.

I haven't used this, but it seems like a good tool - use it to check the "Full charge capacity":

"BatteryMon is a battery monitoring software solution. It has been designed as an easy-to-use Windows based application that allows users to monitor the performance of laptop batteries and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)."
