What type of fireplace/maple floor?

can anyone help me. we have a maple solid wooden floor. the previous owners have a black insert fireplace with a wooden painted surround, it's horrible. what would ryou ecommend would go with a maple floor. dont want a maple surround, i was thinking maybe a cream sandstone colour fireplace, we would be taking the whole thing out and starting from the start.

have a look on here for some ideas, we did but shopped local and got a better deal as well.

The first thing you will do is put a mat in front of fire to save floor Have one of thies in a few years now, its a double pillar slate with overhead mantel mirror and slate surround in large room with maple floor, pm me if you want photo of ours.
