HI,
we are in the process of renovating our house. The renovations are extensive and include a built in BBQ in the garden. We have the choice of Gas or fuel; what do people recommend? My experience is that gas is handy but not alot different to an indoor grill, the modern gas bbq's don't even have coals; are the coals on a traditional bbq that difficult to light etc!

I built a BBQ in the garden two years ago. I store the gas BBQ underenath it and have not used the gas one in two years. I prefer to buy Bord na Mona bbq bags which light immediately and provide a great coal in 20 minutes. Lighting bags of loose charcoal is a pain and requires a lot of bbq fluid. However, the gas bbq has no coals and provides a lovely flavour as fat drips down and burns up over the meat.
