What to do with old quarry tiles.

I recently bought and renovated a victorian terrace house. While doing the back return we discovered the floor still had it's old black and red quarry tiles but on clay. I got the builder to remove them carefully but they weren't in a good enough state to relay - builder said it would cost me too much to clean them.

I now have them stacked up in my garden, but was wondering if anyone would have any good ideas with what to do with them? I was thinking of making a patio area but still not sure what the cleaning of them would entail.

Any comments or suggestions would be welcome! :) Thanks!

Is there an architectural salvage sale site in your area?

Here in England there are several round the country and seem to do great business. I visited one to get some old bonnet tiles after a storm removed some from our roof. Not cheap to buy, but they matched the existing tiles.

Thanks for your replies!
Had thought of architectural salvage, but not sure they'd take them. No harm in asking i suppose! :)
