What to do with birds nest

On Sat I was clearing a garden wall of old invasive ivy to put up some trellis.
I eventually pulled off a rather large section along with parts of some shrubbery-mine and a neighbours-that it had grown through.
Last night -tidying up-I discovered the large section I tore off contained a birds nest and to my horror the nest contained 3 eggs.
It never entered my head that a bird would be nesting there.I have tried placing it back in a bush but just wonder is it too late-any experts on these matters know?
The web indicates they are possibly Sparrow eggs-blueish green with brown speckles.
Quite annoyed with myself-damage done I guess

I'd imagine that the damage is done and the adult birds will have abandoned the nest now. If it is then there's no major harm done since Sparrows (if that's what they are) are plentiful and most eggs/chicks don't survive anyway.
