Hi all
Travelling to Munich at end October with family ( children 13 and 6) any recommendations for self catering accommodation/hotels/chalets, or outdoor activities, things to amuse young children such as cycling, walking, water sports, skiing etc.etc. outside of Munich? We are hiring a car and want to stay somewhere outside of Munich in a scenic area. Daughter studying German at school ,so should be beneficial to us all. Any ideas please, as we haven't been to Munich before.
Thanks
Kenbo

You should stay in the Allgäu for the Alps and Lake Constance (Bodensee) - stunning scenery and lots to do & see.

Farmhouse accommodation on a working farm would be ideal for a family - the standards in Germany are very high and prices very reasonable. Here is the link to the official association in Bavaria: [broken link removed].

BTW, if you are flying with Ryanair to "Munich West", you're really flying into Memmingen, which is in the lower Allgäu.

Thanks to all replies,so great leads just what we are looking for.

Not exactly a barrel of laughs, but for a historical trip, get the local train to Dachau (if kids aren't to young - as it is quite emotional). It brings back the history of the nazis like nothing else I have ever seen.
