What to buy in US - Xbox/PS3/Wii ??

Heading off to NY for a few days shopping. Would like to surprise OH with a surprise.

What do I buy him?He has PS2.
Which is the best gaming wise ? PS3/Xbox/Wii

Technophobe, so not following the other threads about regions,PAL & NTSC etc

If I buy a PS3 in NY - will it work here ?
Will new games bought in Ireland work ?
Will old PS2 games work on it?

Like wise for Xbox or Wii ?

Just remember if you buy a console, buy a bunch of games also!!

US games do not work on Irish machines and vice versa.

You will also need a transformer for the power difference,

Not entirely true, PS3 games are region free. Movie playback is region locked. It has a universal transformer that works over here, you can just use a standard pc cable instead of the american two pin plug.

The Wii is region locked.

The 360 is locked but there are some games that are region free.
