Hi, I am just wondering does or did anyone ever see/do a great idea for a theme for a hen party. We all want to look nice going out so no monkey suits or anything like that, as we want to get into pubs and nightclubs, one night in Kinsale, other one in Cork. I can't think of a thing for it.I was thinking disney characters/fairies etc but they involve costumes, thinking more along the lines of accessories or something clever.

Does it challenge convention too much to suggest a hen party themed on style and elegance?

yeah, exactly, that's what I am saying but the accessories, that is what I am after, we are going to dress up in our own clothes but accessorise with.....?

I like that Caveat, very clever. Get her some peacock feathers perhaps for her hair, amongst other things?? starting to think outside whats allowed, just thinking rubber glove on her head with feathers stuck all over her clothes, god, she would kill me.

oh, very good, I think you are onto something there Mel, lady legends of the past. That means we could all look elegant and pretty but still themed. Could do Liz Taylor, Betty Brable, Ava Gardner..... But then I am thinking the effort or expense people might have to go to to get the outfit together. I don't want to have to inforce that although I do love your idea. Oh, I don't know now. You know, I don't know what I want, that's the problem!! What to do for her??

I went to one where everyone had to wear all black outfits and they dressed the bride to be (after a few drinks) in a red pvc catsuit!! Personally I think what's wrong with everyone just dressing normally, especially if you want no trouble getting into pubs / clubs. Besides I think it is enough for the ladies to make the effort and go to the hen for two nights without then asking them to dress as movie icons or in costume or whatever. The idea where everyone brings a small humourous gift (say €10 worth) is nice and would add some fun to the occasion.
