What MPG does 04 Avensis 1.6 deliver

I do a 60 mile round trip on a dual carriageway every day.

What MPG can I expect from an 04 Avensis 1.6L ?
Should I consider a diesel car?

I can't answer your first question, but at at 15k to 20k miles per year I'd suggest that a diesel might be a good investment for you.

You'll get around 30mpg. Yes go for a diesel. Anyone driving a large saloon should have diesel, a 1.6 is gonna be underpowered and have you at the pumps every second day!

I'd imagine 30mpg would be a bit low. Gentle driving on a dual carriageway should get a higher mpg return.

I have a 05 Avensis 1.6, the power of the car seems fine.
The best MPG I have managed to squeeze out of it is about 40mpg, that was only driving on a motorway after filling up the tank. Usually you’re talking about 32mpg urban up to 36-38mpg on the open road.
