What do Painters charge?

Hello,

Can anyone give me an idea of the going rate for a painter, please?

Do they charge a daily rate, or is it per room?

I need to get a small bungalow painted (a small 3 bed) internal only, will incl. ceilings, no skirting boards, so sat looking for an idea of cost before I start trying to get someone.

Daily rate is a bad idea as it can stretch things out, set fee is much better idea.

Anywhere from €200 up per day up.
A lot goes into the prep of the surface that needs too be painted.

Set fee is the only way to go otherwise they'll be there at Christmas telling you they're popping put for a minute (2 hours) and knocking off early due to some drama.

4 bed house, floor to ceilings and all woodwork, feature walls in 3 rooms it came in at €3,500 if I remember correctly would need to check my spreadsheet, it could be more. That was in 2022.

Best money spent, you couldn't pay me to paint, that's what the professionals are for.

I'd usually agree with that but we recently hired a painter who only works on a day rate. He was the most recommended in the area and now he's finished I can see why. I've never seen a trade work like he did. My rule is now fixed rate unless the trade is highly recommended by people you trust.
