What commission to pay salesperson

Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

I'm starting up a business but between day job and all the admin work associated with the start up, I only have a very small amount of time to give to the all important sales.

A friend with sales experience who has 2 days free a week at the moment has volunteered to work for commission only and I would like to go back to him with a decent offer, but don't know what a good rate would be. How would I go about working this out?

First thing you need to do is work out what gross profit you can make on what you are selling. Then factor in your salesman's commission along with all your other overheads and make sure you can still make a profit.

There is no set rate to pay.... It comes down to what you can afford.
