What colour floor would you put with white high gloss kitchen?

I actually have a white high gloss kitchen with black countertops and I have a herringbone parquet effect lino (couldn't afford the real thing, but it does look very realistic).

I love the effect of the warm looking floor with the crisp black-and-white of the kitchen. And in fact I have the same flooring in the entire house, and I'm delighted with it (though again, I'd be even more delighted with the real thing).

Walnut..!!!

Yep... or Oak.

Match it with an Oak or Walnut counter top. Get the accessories right (handles, trims, appliances etc - probably in glass and SS with hints of really bold red - a wall-clock/blender/toaster etc) and you can get a really sharp and contemporary look without it being cold and clinical.

Thanks everyone, lots of food for thought there. Have a bit of time yet to make my mind up !

What about marmoleum - I think walnut would be lovely, but one flooding washing machine or dishwasher and you can rip it all up....

I lived in an appartment that had a white kitchen and a marmoleum type floor and it had a marbled/speckled light green going through it and looked lovely with the white. Very bright.
