Just wondering what for example are the benefits finanially or otherwise of a multinational company setting up a centralised shared function example Procurement, Finance etc in Ireland rather than another European company? Is there a link to any website regarding this where I could get further information.

The main benefits are economies of scale. Instead of having 1 accounts payable person in each of the 20 countries clearing invoices and processing payments, you might be able to get away with a team of e.g. 5 or 10 AP staff looking after all payments right across Europe.
It also provides a great opportunity to document and standardise processes, so that all approvals are done appropriately.
