Hi Everyone,

Myself and my partner want to look into getting a mortgage,we are both first time buyers and have a 5% deposit. I noticed on my statement in the past three months i have gone over my over draft limit by around seventy euro twice, once my own fault for not looking also through no fault of my own on final payment of a personal loan with TSB finance, the bank took the final payment twice on the same day of closing and even though it went through ok, it went over my over draft again, and ive been charged for it, and it will show on my statement again.

Ive since been onto TSB who said they will issue me with a refund and a letter to say it was their fault etc, but im wondering will these two time of going over my overdraft cause me hassle when applying for mortgage?

Thanks

Re: Went over my over draft!!!

When we applied for a mortgage, my statements showed me regularly going into my overdraft and coming pretty close to the limit. It didn't affect the mortgage application at all.

Hi thanks for that, but these two times did actually go over my limit.

I don't think it really matters. I think all they are really interested in is long term loans and an overdraft is considered a short term facility. Statements are just used to prove that your pay is going directly to your bank account and that you aren't hiding any loans, I think.

Correct, and to ensure that your Bank is not blocking any payments ie Direct Debits and cheques.

The fact that your bank allowed you to go over your limit would indicate that everything is fine.
