I was looking at a bit of a Disney movie on RTE1 today about kids trying to save pit ponies from the slaughterhouse.
Out of curiousity I googled Welsh mining disasters. The only one I was vaguely aware of was the Aberfan 1966 disaster when the village and school were destroyed.
I am just stunned by this list of disasters, truly shocking.
The biggest was on 14th October 1913, 439 killed. Lots of fathers and sons and brothers.
