What an All Ireland final.
Hurling is the 'beautiful ' game . No question about it.
From a neutral point of view it was another classic both Clare and Cork played their part in that. I would have been happy to see either team win but as they say there has to be a winner and in this case hurling was the winner.
67 scores in 100 minutes and only one point between them at the end . What a match.

Excellent exhibition of how hurling should be played and an enjoyable day. Journey back to Cork was pretty long, but c’est la vie.

Well Done to Clare and also to Cork, two manly teams with no diving, no rolling around in agony as if there was an air crash. And for a terrifically entertaining hurling match.

Two attack minded teams taking a risk at the back to have a go, absolutely loved it. Comhghairdeas to Johnny Murphy as well, had a really good game and contributed to the spectacle.
Delighted for Tony Kelly who silenced all those who were only too happy to say he couldn't do it on the big day. He did yesterday and scored some of the best scores seen in an All Ireland final. He carried Clare through extra time.

"Enthralling" is probably the word to describe it. And what a match for the BBC to show on mainstream UK TV. Probably very few British viewers with no connection to Ireland, but most likely huge numbers of 1st & 2nd generation Irish probably watched it and they got a treat.

That Tony Kelly point near the end was phenomenal skill and it gave massive momentum to Clare at that moment to score 2 more and have a small cushion for Cork's last onslaught.

Amateur in the true sense of the word, these unpaid athletes play for the love of the game, their counties, their clubs, and their colleagues. Their fitness and skill levels are par excellence and we should all be proud of them. The greatest game of hurling I have seen, even the ref refusing to retire injured! More of this, please. Well done BBC NI, but could they not have had a more salubrious "studio"?
