Wedding, looking for restaurant to book?

Hello All,
Thinking of taking the plunge, however I do not want to do the hotel thing. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good restaurant that I could book for a party of approx 60ish people in Dublin or Kildare.

Has anyone done something similar?

Your advise would be greatly appreciated

Was at something similar on Saturday night in La Venue (Sth. Anne Street) - lovely food and wedding party were seated together. Really enjoyed it!
 
I know of someone who went to the Beaufield Mews in Stillorgan and we delighted with it.

Cruzo's in Malahide does do weddings, small ones. However, if you're not looking to book out the whole thing, I'm not sure if it suits.

We rented Coopers on Leeson Street for our wedding and it was absolutely fantastic. Great service, whole upstairs area to ourselves. It was great fun, nicely informal and very reasonable.

A good recommendation in Kildare could be the Hanged Man's restaurant in Kildare town / Milltown. Gourmet restaurant sitting right on the canal.
 
Check out Becketts Hotel - its really more of a restaurant. Great food and in leixlip so seems to meet your location spot on "Dublin/Kildare". I think they have a website as well. Try beckettshotels.ie.

Never had a bad meal there and i have heard so good reviews for samll weddings.
 
I was in Beckets last week and would agree that the food is excellent, but the layout is very bitty, we were a party of 12 and the space was a little cramped.... plus the layout of the restaurant may mean that you might not get to talk to everyone, and come toasts they won't be able to see you/ best man!
An idea I've heard of it if your party is 50-60 people, have 5-6 tables layed out for 12 people, but only sit 10 per table, then you and your new wife / hubby can move table for each course.... Just factor in adding a pallet cleanser sorbet during the meal so you have enough courses!
 


Hi All, thanks for the recommendations. Funny I was in Beckitts for lunch this week. I agree that the lay out is not ideal. I asked about having a wedding there and was told that you have to have a min of 90 people.
We want to keep it to 60 ish people, with excellent food but quite low key too.
 
Brasserie na Mara in Dun Laoghaire. It's a gorgeous (listed) building and does lovely food. I worked there for a few years and the weddings always went superbly

Hate to rebuff.
I went on my wedding anniversary a few months ago there and we both considered it ( and we eat out a lot) one of the worst meals and service we have had in years. would not touch it with a bargepole again!
 
The Ballybeg House in Tinahely is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Friends of mine got married there, and the indian restaurant catered for the meal. The most beautiful house and views I've ever seen. Great wedding. Hot tube over looking the mountains, lovely gardens...hummm

Looking at Coopers on Leeson Street myself - looks like a good spot. To use the dancefloor, I think you need to book the restaurant for exclusive use. Anyone have any idea what the going rate is to hire a restaurant for exclusive use? Does it vary greatly from a week night than the rate charged for a Fri/Sat?
 
There's a place on the quays, near Bachelors walk, called number ten or number something -- can't remember exactly. Its a lovely Georgian house, you can rent it all out and bring in caterers. Pefect for weddings, I was at one there a few years ago. Central, classy, and very private for your party.
Sorry about the vagueness, but it was a few years back. If I can find out exactly where it it I'll post again, or maybe someone knows it?
