Hi guys
Im looking for a good modern wedding car (bmw5/7 series, merc e/s class etc..) in the north west . Any ideas?

Have you tried any car dealers .they might rent you a car for the day .supply your own driver.

hertz, argus and murray car rentals hire out 5 series and e class.

There are plenty of places in Northern Ireland that rent out modern 'high end' cars for weddings-certainly Mercs. Google away.

I wouldn't tell them as when they hear the word wedding the price might double or even go higher than that.

Most of their business is likely to come from weddings so it will hardly matter.

I did hear a feature on the radio recently and a professional wedding coordinator advised against revealing you want their service for a wedding...she gave renting a Merc versus a wedding car, buying a white tiered cake versus a wedding cake and hiring a photographer for a party rather than a wedding as examples

Bonzos I was thinking of doing the same thing myself. Checked out a merc E200 with Argus Rental and it was €360 for a weekend. Would prefer a car that was a bit slicker though but there doesn't seem to be anywhere in the south that does them.

Might have to look in to renting from the North (would that be a hassle insurance wise?).

If you do decide to rent from a car rental company, check their policy on allowing you to decide the exact car.
I know that many of the car rental companies will allow you to book a luxury class car, but will not allow you to specify the exact type. You take the available car in this class on the day.

you might be disappointed to find you are being given a top of the range car from a less prestigious brand.

Study your nearest taxi rank, pick out the best car and negotiate with the taxi driver to do your escorting on the big day. We did it at our wedding (used the then Jury's taxi rank in Ballsbridge). The driver (Merc 500) was a character - he wore a tux and did up the car with ribbon etc. It saved us some money and added to the stories of the day!

Good idea as long as you find the right car!. Fair play to the driver for making the extra effort.

it does matter that its a wedding car from the hire point of view --- hertz and argus mention weddings as one of the reasons you'd want to hire a luxury car...
