Website under different name

Apologies if this has already been asked.

What I want to do is set up a website using a different name to my business. The need arises because the business name we have does not describe accurately the service we are trying to sell.

If I register a new domain name, do I need to register this domain name as a business name with CRO or not? No financial transactions will occur on the website - it is purely informational. I guess the answer will be that I shouldn't need to register with CRO, but just wanted to check before doing anything.

The IEDR have dramatically relaxed the rules on names - once you can show that your business has some connection with the name you require it will be fine.

e.g - I have giftdelivery.ie & company name is E-Stores, but as we're a gift delivery company there was no problem in getting the domain - similarly pokerchips.ie - we sell poker stuff, so no probelm with the domain.

Is it a .ie or .com you want ?
