website to sort out Tax

We lived in Germany for 1 year.
Unfortunately we did not get a suitable grasp on the language.
We now have to fill out the tax form.
We were told by friends thatwe may be entitled to get some money back, such as the tax on fuel for travelling to and from work etc.
They are not in a position to help us to fill out the form and cannot recomend someone with good english to help.
We have sourced the net and have found a website that claims to sort out the tax and they take 16.5% of any money obtained.
Has anyone experience using such a website?
We would appreciate any advice, thanks!
 
Is it Taxback by any chance? If so this site was mentioned a couple of times in the past. You should be able to find related threads using the search. 16.5% is a fair whack in terms of charges but some people might consider it worth paying. I personally would not.

Thanks for the reply.I have since read the other post on the subject.
I know that it seems a lot,16.5%, but if we got some money back it would be better than nothing.
 
I used Taxback to get money back from working in the US a while back, the charges were high but it was an extremely easy process.
