What is the weather in New York, Boston, New Jersey like in September and October

Usually nice & pleasant, getting a little chillier by October. Whole world is getting crazy weather though, so you never know! During day you'd expect nice/warm, especially if sun is out. Night time probably cooler.

So in term of clothes we're talking, Jeans, Shirts, Heaveir type t-shirts and Polo Shirts, Jumpers/Hoodies/Cardigans and not too heavy a casual jacket - right?

Exactly, nothing too heavy. But on the off chance it gets cold, you're in the best places for shopping!
