Just wondering if anyone has ever waterproofed a balcony during a build and if so, what did you use as your waterproofer?
We are currently building our house and the balcony is located above our front entrannce hall which is an internal room. We have concrete slabs on it and then 100mm of screed which has a slight fall. We have blocks around the edge with stepped dpc and lead which is overlapped. We also have an outlet with a special balcony drain that I sourced in Carlow.
I have done some research and come up with three options to 'tank' and completely waterproof the balcony:
(1) fibreglass
(2) asphalt
(3) special waterproofing paint
Has anyone any experience with any of the above or any other products? What is the best way to go? I am SO keen to do this waterproofing correctly at this stage rather than watching damp seep into my house in years to come.
Thanks!
