Water seepage through concrete joint

Hi. Am new here so I hope my question is posted correctly. The joint between my basement concrete slab and the concrete wall is leaking water. Have tried to solve the problem without success. Recently someone suggested that I rake out the joint, remove dust, apply Sikaflex and manouvre it in. Then apply a coat of primer, a 6" wide plastic mesh applied 3" each side, then a blackjack x3 coats, before laying a bed of waterproof sand/cement mix with a concrete block on top - to keep everything in place. It's very difficult to do it the right way ie. by digging down outside etc. Anyone got any advice? Thanks in advance.

Hi alaya99, welcome to AAM.

Askaboutmoney.com is a site devoted primarily to discussing finance-related matters in an Irish context (although we do have many overseas posters). Although your question is posted in the correct sub-forum, this mightn't be the best place to seek advice on such a technical problem. Have you tried for more relevant forums?

Agreed DrMoriarty, this is a very difficult technical query, your best bet is to consult a chartered engineer or a technical representative from a specialist supplier like Sika or Grace Construction products.

Hi,
Apply a 20mm x 20mm polyurethane joint sealant fillet where wall and floor slab meet. Then I would apply a suitable liquid based tanking membrane. There are plenty of them out there i.e. Grace, Sika as suggested earlier.

Just a suggestion ...... a spray on fibreglass tanking. You can also get a type of asphalt 'cord' that can be manipulated into the crack before melting it. Then apply more, reheat and flatten in. Keep moving the blowtorch whilst working. 'Henry' is one of the better known waterproof brand names in N America.
