I just got a top up of petrol at the local garage for my daughter and the car started to stall imediately after. Went back to the garage as I thought they might have given me diesel by mistake but they said no.

Rang the AA and the said it was the fuel pump and they towed me home. The garage rang me two hours later to say they had a problem with 4 other cars as one of the pumps had been pumping water (some problem with drainage).

He says he will fix it tomorrow, however my daughter has be in London for a conference on Wednesday morning and had by then taken a train and was going to get the boat. Her car is now in Ireland and she is on her way to London. What compensation if any can she get from the garage? What should she do?

In light of the fact that you have AA membership and they presumably dealt with the breakdown I would give them a call to see if they can give you any guidance/advice.

Perhaps the www.consumerconnect.ie might give you some advice also.
