Washing machine - plumb to sewerage OR foul water

Hi there

Anyone tell me if the washing machine outlet should be hooked into the sewerage or the foul water system. I say foul water, DH says sewerage. My reasoning, all that detergent could ruin the bacterial quality of the sewerage tank - am I mad????

If your system is a septic tank, your washing machine should not go to your sewer pipes. If you are connected to Mains Sewerage its OK. The reason is that the detergents upset the bacteria etc that operates a septic tank. Main sewer is treated and processed centrally.
