Washing Machine Drum Bearing Failure

Has anyone else had problems with the main bearing in their washing machine.?
I purchased a new washing machine about 5 year ago with a 5 year parts warranty. After 2 ½ years the bearing in the drum went very noisy, apparently the bearing is not replaceable and a complete new drum is required, so the company replaced it but it cost me €140 labour. Another 2 ½ year on and the bearing has gone again. I wrote to Elecrolux/Tricity Bendix at 2 different addresses and told them there was only two of us at home and it did not have heavy use, also that previous machines had never give this problem and I am not prepared to pay another €140, I will purchase a new machine. The result no response whatsoever, they do not care.

As one manufacture covers a few different makes the inside is similar so they must all have this fault from this group, so I will purchase from a different manufacturing group next time.

I had a problem with an electric kettle a couple of years ago. Lid flew off as it started to boil. Got a slight steam burn. As the kettle was still under guarantee I got a replacement. Six months later same problem with replacement kettle.

This time I was pretty annoyed (to put it mildly) and insisted on a refund in order to buy another make.

The retailer told me that as the exact same fault had occurred in simular circumstances in both kettles the manufacturer needed to be informed as there appeared to be a design fault which needed to be reported/corrected
