I have been on DA for about 18 months, I was self employed, I now have enough PRSI A type credits. I applied for IP, and Social Welfare sent me the GP Form, Which the GP filled in, I also gave them permission to contact my medical consultants. That was about 3 weeks ago. Does any one know how long the process takes ?

Have you checked with SW that you have sufficient A type credits awarded to you as I note you were self-employed prior to your DA. and therefore paying class S contribution

The records dept. in Co. Clare found 43 A Class Contributions in 2008, plus 18 in 2009.as I was only an employee of the company at that stage. I have been geting credits at Type A on DA.

Normally they just send you a letter to say you do not qualify for IP, due to lack of A type credits

On this occasion they requested a medical report, which is normally the second stage, after confirmation of PRSI rule. As I am on DA anyway, and receiving the allowance, I am not to concerned. I was just wondering how long the process takes
