After moving into a new house I've got a dozen or so warranty forms with all the various appliances. Do warranty forms need to be filled out or do you still get your 12\24\etc month guarantee without it?

Nope, but many of these offer an extension over the standard warranty if filled out and returned.

Or else they are the company's way of harvesting your details so that they can sell them on for spam/junk mail purposes.

No you don't have to fill the forms, once you have the proof of purchase your ok, you also won't be be dealing directly with the makers of any of your equipment you will be dealing with the shop so don't worry about the forms recycle them.....
