Warranty Company

Does anybody know if there are any companies here that do independent warranties on cars , that is you can buy a warranty from them ,seperate from the car.
I know it can be done in England but not sure about here.
The reason I want to know is I am thinking about buying a second hand car but garage is some distance from where I live.

hi there i'm paying for a 2 year extended warrenty tomorrow as i've just bought a second hand car. i'm sure the guy at the car company said the warrenty was run by an insurance company. will check out the details for you and post a further reply when i know more. good luck
