As mentioned previously:
I upgraded to Revolut premium using the current 2 month free trial offer, and was able to convert the whole amount to Euro at market rate, without any extra fees.

Attempting to cancel today before the end of my 2 month "free" trial, and Revolut want to charge me a 2 month break fee for downgrading to the actually free plan. This is per their terms:

I was not aware I was committing to an ongoing subscription when I signed up for the "free trial". This seems very misleading marketing and terminology. I do have an issue paying a contract break fee when I wasn't aware I was entering a 12 month commitment. Linking to boilerplate T&Cs during sign-up seems a shoddy way to communicate this key fact.

This reminds me of some of Adobe's free trials and subscription packages. I gather a variant of the Adobe free cancelation trick may also work with Revolut; will report back.

Ok, so the current workaround to avoid Revolut's break fee is to take advantage of the actually free 14 day trial period on any new plan.

Simply upgrade to the next plan up, and then cancel within 14 days (distance selling cooling off period?), to be refunded your upgrade fee and not charged a break fee.

Note: this avoids break fees but will NOT avoid card issuing fees, e.g. for metal cards.

I saw this too. A large fee to drop to basic plan, it's very sneaky. However I dropped to plus and fee charge dropped and no breakage fee. A day or two later I dropped to standard and the monthly charge for plus was refunded. I guess I probably started on premium or metal, I didn't order any extra cards then.

In my case this was a few months back
