Walnut worktop

In the design phase for our kitchen at the moment and would like to have a solid walnut worktop or some similar dark wood as it will be ideal for giving warmth to our high gloss cream doors.

Price I have at the moment is €1100 for a 4000mm x 650mm length of panga panga (quite similar to walnut), but I'd guess this is one type of thing where shopping around may pay off - does anyone have any recommendations of where to source it?

We got a worktop from Woodworkers in Harold's Cross, Dublin recently.

They are listing Walnut as follows:-
American Walnut 5000mm x 625mm x30mm€785.00
This seems better value than your panda quote...

By the way - if you do contact Woodworkers, ask them if the wood is Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified - they didn't have a clue what that meant when we asked, and it's good for them to be aware of it..! All B&Q wood is FSC, and it would be great if others followed suit. But both Walnut and Panda seem to be fairly sustainable... For further info:-
