Walking away from house?

Hi,

I have a difficult question to ask.

I bought a house in kerry over a year and a half ago with my girlfriend. We have since broke up. About 6 months ago I moved back to dublin. I am not working currently as have recently been made redundant. I cannot afford to pay for mortgage. My question is what are the long term implications of handing the keys back to the bank?

They will sell the house.

They will then come after you for the difference between your mortgage and the amount they get for it.
