Waiting time for opfp

My son is 4 months old, I applied for opfp 7 wks ago & had an interview with inspector 5 wks ago. I am on maternity leave but i'm returning to work in 2 weeks...due to problems with childcare I will be earning less than what i'm recieving now!
I'm in sligo & wondering how long my payment will take to come through as I once had a terrible experience with the cwo & would prefer to try & hold out rather than attempting to get money from him.

At the end of August the average waiting time was 16 weeks! Not sure if things have improved since.

Thanks for the answers, as regards to maintanance, i'm getting 40 euro a week from my sons dad, I know I am lucky to get this amount as he is unemployed but it doesn't go very far!!
