I submitted my claim for rebate on medical exps on 8th January.
I havent received anything back yet - typically how long does it take revenue to process?

did 3 years tax returns including med expenses on 17 Jan. got cheque last week. Maybe ring up Revenue office and enquire status.

I did a 2007 MED1 claim online and the money was lodged to my bank account within a week.

Clubman - I am currently awaiting my ReachServices username and password in order to complete the MED1 online - is there a choice between having money lodged to your bank account or receiving cheque and is there a time difference between the two?

Currently my wait time just to complete the MED1 online has been a week to get the pin sent to me (my own fault couldnt find it at home) and Im now in my second week waiting for the ReachServices username and password, but you have encouraged me that when I finally get that it shouldnt be long after to get the rebate!

As far a I know both the online and paper MED1 form allow you to choose for repayment via cheque or lodgement to your bank. I don't know if choosing the latter speeds things up but I would doubt it.

A direct credit may be a little quicker, as apparently all printing of cheques etc and posting is now centralized with the Revenue's logistics branch and I have recent examples of Revenue credits hitting my bank account before the corresponding documentation reaches me in via An Post. The documentation is usually dated 7 to 10 days prior to the delivery date.

Just slightly OT, according to Revenue sources, direct payments made by them to tax-payers' accounts are still subject to the banks' 5 day clearing cycle.

Before the revenue installed the ROS system I submitted my claims by post every year and it took up to a month or even longer sometimes. If you do it online it's really quick - two weeks max. Both have the options for direct bank transfer.
