Hi

Just wondering about the JSB. I understand that as part of my PRSI that I would be entitled to 9 months JSB.

If I was to quit my job and there is a waiting period of 9 weeks does that 9 weeks get added on to the end of the 9 months or would a person only be eligible for approx 7 months ie 9 months minus the 9 week waiting period?

It's not a 9 week waiting period, it's a 9 week disallowance, and it is included in the 9 month overall entitlement.

Not sure you would be entitled to JSB if you simply quit your job, made redundant yes, quit - don't believe so.

There is a period of disallowance (up to 9 weeks) for persons who leave work without good reason and claim jobseeker's payments.

They are not disbarred totally.
