Hi all,

The Wainsfort Manor Cresent estate in Terenure and several other such as Priory Hall, Glendale have the river Poddle running through it.

Does anyone know if those estates ever suffer flooding from the Poddle, i.e. such as in the bad floods of Oct 2011?

Thanks for any advice.

I have a friend who lives near there and yes the flooding of 2 years ago affected the area though not his house in Priory Walk. The large green area out the from acted as a flood plain and the water was held there.
He mentioned some flood gates being opened in a rush late at night to save some houses getting flooded.

Would be worth your while going over there and talking to the locals for exact details.

Hi Sue Ellen,

I've tried the floodmaps website but not found it the easiest to use. There is a flood icon appearing in the area but the details of it talk about Harolds Cross which look incorrect....

It's also not clear if that website is up to date with the latest info such as the 2011 floods.

Delboy,

Sounds a little worrying when I hear of a rush to open flood gates to avoid houses getting flooding. I'll see if I can get anyone local to confirm.
