VW Polo leaking oil

I would appreciate if someone can help me out get a better understanding of what wrong with my car.

I have a 97 Polo 1.0 litre which is leaking oil. Its not much, at least that's what I think, may be 5-6 drops in a day. Its clear pinkish in color and surely its not coolant. It drips just below the gear box so I am suspecting its gear oil. How could I be sure? Is there a way for me to fix it without taking to garage as I am not going to keep it for long so don't want to spend too much on it.

pink oil ? is it an automatic ? if not then I would suspect power steering leak if you have PAS.
 
I forgot to mention it has no power steering and its not automatic. Oil is almost transparent in colour with pinkish tint(it looks pink).
