Have ordered a new VW Passat 1.9tdi Highline - Just wondering if anyone has any experience or any views!

If you've already ordered it then all comments are superfluous surely?!

No money has changed hands yet therefore constructive comments, opinions and inputs are mort than welcome - Smart arses and time wasters are not!

They are overpriced alrighit but basically are a good car.The new ones are getting a little bit too complicated, the electronic handbrake seems to be a frequent cause for trouble at the moment. They had only just ironed out the handbrake problems on the old model(calipers seizing) when they changed the whole set up again. The push button start is troublesome as it is in most cars at the moment, what was wrong with a key I ask??
Did you look at the Skoda Superb? a lovely car by all accounts

I test drove a 1.9 and it seemed a bit gutless to me.
They have detuned the 1.9 from 130bhp so it won't compete with the 140bhp 2.0tdi

A colleague of the brothersgot one this year company wagon. Handbrake lock e all four wheels one day. Sounds like there are still some teething problems.

As was mentioned before VW tend to be very mean on spec, although the highline should be good.

On a positive note nice looking car.

I have also ordered a 1.9tdi highline and would love to hear back good or bad reviews too, thanks for starting this thread

What model didi you opt for? What car do u currently drive? What is your overall inpression of the car?

1.9tdi comfort line with monte carlo sports pack. Found this car to be a great drive, but found the new hand brake difficult to get used to . I drive a 02 1.9tdi passat at the moment.

hi there.

my mum has one and she loves it to bits, she would never buy anything other that a vw. she's mad there a rip off! ok a good car but still!
I think its a nice looking car, maybe a bit plain, and i also thing it looks to glitzy at the front chromy or something what does anyone else think?

Climate control - Leather - Electric seats - Alloys e.t.c for €34k

Am gobsmacked at that. That kind of money would buy a spectacular 3 year old bmw/merc etc...

Yes that is true but with the trouble I have with my second hand car I feel you are paying for parts and other people's wear and tear to the car. I've got such a scalding with my car thats why Im going for a brand new car. I know all second hand cars are not troublesome but to me to have some peace on mind its worth it

Yes but its diesel therefore its the torque output that counts not HP! It will be used for city driving therefore im not too concerned about power anyway!

I bought a VW Passat 1.9tdi Highline last February and have had no trouble with it at all. Its nearly due its first service. My only regret is not getting the reverse parking sensors as its impossible to see how much space you have when reversing. I got the fog lights and multi-function steering wheel as options. Overall am pleased with the car.
