VW Passat Automatic handbrake problem

The automatic handbrake on my 2007 Passat has started to give trouble.
It will not engage, or disengage at times, you have to switch off the engine, wiat a few mins and then it will engage/disengage.
I am taking it to be serviced over the weekend and wonder if this is a costly thing to have fixed, should I expect a big bill?
Also for anyone with a VW Passat have you had problems with the handbrake.

I have a sister in law who had similar prob, think it got fixed under warranty though, as yours should!!

I think there is a known software bug, fixed under waranty though.

Brothers place got a few of them handbrake locked on on him a few times.

Ring the local dealer.
