Hi
Have a 01 Golf TDI 80K miles suffering from total loss of power( no acceleration, have to change down the gears on hills). Garage tested it with diagnostic kit at last service but found nothing wrong. It ran better for approx 1000 miles after last service but getting progressively worse.
Any ideas what might be the problem. Car serviced regularly from new

Thanks

Hi

look at the docs for the last service and try to determine what made the improvement. Check what parts were fitted.

If a new air cleaner/filter was fitted, then replace it yourself and see does the car improve.

The answer to your problem lies in what happened during the last service.

Hi had same problem with a passat. Problem was air mass flow meter (or something like that-not a mechanic!).Its a chip regulates air flows to turbo. Costs round 80 euro for part, and 5 min to put in.Suggest this to your mechanic.

hi, i think the problem is the air flow meter, cost about 80 euro in the factors, 5 min to change same

yeah sounds like your MAF (airflow meter) alright. think a merc one fits vw and is cheaper to buy

Have the same problem not as bad yet thought, But i can't complain as the car has 150k miles on the clock. taught it was bad diesel initially but it urned out to be the airflow meter.
