VRT Test - Paint Damage

Need to VRT my car, but has paint damage to bonnet caused by parking under tree, some scrapes on passenger door and two dents in boot.

I want to get can of paint and touch up areas affected, but was told they could fail my VRT on this....

Is this true, or can I paint my car, also any links to list of tests performed, or maintenance required on car for VRT.

VRT is Vehicle Registration Tax. Are you talking about NCT maybe?

Shouldn't fail the nct for scruffy paint.

I wouldn't be too worried about it.
