VRT Rates:Whether old cars will fall into new rates

help needed
If I was to but a car registered in england in 2006 and import it to ireland in july 2008 would i be subject to pay the new rates of vrt or subject to the old rates as the car I would be importing would not be a new car. Ultimately what I am asking is if old cars imported into ireland from the UK will be eligible under the new rates of VRT in ireland that come effective in june 2008.

any car whether it new or not registered after June 30th 2008 is subject to new rates of VRT & Motor Tax
