Hi,
I'm looking into buying an old Ford Mustang (1969) in Europe and bringing it over here. The car will cost between 10 and 15k. Does anybody know how much the VRT would be or if there is some formula to work it out for a car like this?
Many thanks.

log onto revenue.ie go to vrt calculator at the end of the page and you can work it out from there

Apparently, as the car is over 30 years old and so a classic car, it is 'exempt' from VRT and road tax. The 'exempt' actually means paying an admin fee of 50 euro for the VRT. I seem to recall it's the same for road tax (or is it only 40? Can't remember from when we got the tractor last taxed). You can also get cheaper classic car insurance, but only if it is not your only car (i.e. you use another car for everyday driving).

(Second-hand knowledge, so make sure you check up on it before you act!).
