Hi there, there are positions of voluntary redundancies in work and i am just looking to see if it would be worth my while. Been in job 7 years, they have to get bak to me with a figure yet of lump sum.

I am married, wife is stay at home mum, claiming childrens allowance. I have always wanted to change career, I work in an office at the moment, but would love to work for myself doing decking, gardens etc etc. I don't think i'll get another chance like this for lump sum and to give me the push i need to leave and get my own business going.

Would i be entitled to anything in regards to my mortgage repayments or anything else i might not be aware of if i do leave? Thanks

If you take voluntary redundancy your claim for Mortgage protection will be invalid. My husband found out the hard way. He was told by the Mortgage Insurers that he would not be entitled to claim as it was classed as voluntary redundancy. His employer told him that work was fizzling out and everyone was been made redundant. He was given the option of taking voluntary redundancy (as there wasnt enough work) and was finished a few weeks earlier than the rest of the team.

Unless the company fail to declare the fact the redundancy was voluntary, it will reduce any entitlements to claim benefits or reduce mortgage payments.

Q here : my role is now gone in my job. I can reapply for another job but ther eis no way on earth I would get it.. so should I just apply and get sacked rather then take the voluntry they are trying to make me take?
