Voluntary Redundancy and illness benefit

After years of suffering with anxiety problems a voluntary package was put in front of me so i applied for it and was accepted.

I was due to leave in two months time but fell ill again and my doc certified me unfit for work so i left work earlier then i should of and applied for illness benifit straight away.

i rang my employer after 3 days and told him i would not be returning so he put me down as leaving the day i fell ill.

Am i entitled to illness benifit under these circumstances?

If so will i not recieve payment for 9 weeks as i left voluntarily?

The 9 week disallowance only applies to Jobseeker's Benefit, not Illness Benefit.

Entitlement to Illness Benefit is based on PRSI contributions and medical certificate - the redundancy situation won't affect it.
