Voluntary prsi contributions

The credits cannot be used.

If it turns out that the Australian contributions cannot be used then the following might be possible.

If your OH can reach the 520 level by combining his 179 paid class A and his current class D he could then work for 1 week at class A after he retires from his public sector employment. He would qualify for voluntary contributions and could then make some voluntary A contributions to add with his Spanish ones to reach the required 520 full rate paid Prsi contributions.

You are still within the 5 year limit for paying voluntary contributions for the time while you were in Australia. I think you should probably close that gap in your record ASAP.

I don't think I can as I paid a D stamp before I left. OH is the same. Happy to be proved wrong.

have a related post on this so maybe people can help

I paid tax on rental property in Ireland while I was working in the UK as PAYE. I applied to DSP to pay voluntary pension contributions for 2022 and 2023. They accepted for 2023 (code V4) but not 2022 but don't say why?

Also on the back of letter it says:

4. Voluntary Contributions should only be paid for periods where a person is no longer covered by compulsory PRSI in Ireland, any other EU state or the UK

What does this mean? As obviously I have been paying National Insurance in the UK.

Thanks for help!
