Volume of commercials louder than the shows

Has anybody else noticed this? I've mentioned it to a few friends and they all agree. When watching a show on TV I set the volume to my desiered level which is low if somebody in the apartment is asleep in bed. Then BOOM, the advertisements come on and they are broadcast at a substantially higher volume that makes you kinda sit up and tends to wake a now cranky flat mate. I'm with NTL but I notice this particularly with SKY channels.

Who could you complain to? It's a real pain in the back-side.

I've definitely noticed this and it's really annoying - also tends to wake up my other half when I'm watching something in bed....

I'm sick to death of turning down the volume during the commercial break. I read somewhere that it's designed to grab the attention...it makes me reach for the MUTE button!!!
