Volume button vanished from taskbar

I always used to have the volume control icon in the right hand section of my taskbar. It's recently vanished. Can anyone give any suggestion why it disappeared, and what I need to do to get it back.

Right click task bar >properties>customize> scroll to volume >click always show.

Have no idea why it disappeared on you.

I tried that. When I look at the list, it has a list for Currently Displayed, and another for Previously Displayed. The volume control appears in the Previously Displayed section. Any suggestions how I can move it back so that it will display?

Click on the "hide" bit and it should offer you a drop down to click "always show"

You might also need to go into Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices and ensure that "Place volume icon in the taskbar" is checked.
